This week photographer Mark McEvoy and I returned to the Jungle Book Cafe in Calais to run another day of photography workshops for the unaccompanied minors.
After handing out prints shot by the kids on our last visit, which were quickly divvied up by the subjects of the pictures, we set about sharing two DSLRs among those who wanted to shoot pictures in the cafe.
There were so many keen photographers that it was hard to keep track of the cameras as they circulated around the room, each shooter taking portraits of their friends. So interesting angles and compositions.
The Jungle is threatened with closure in the next two weeks so this might be our last workshop. Thankfully some of the children have already made it to the UK and hopefully more will follow.
We hope to continue these workshops which are a great distraction from the hardships of the camps, give the children a creative outlet and empower them.
