I am very excited to have had an image from my long term project in the refugee camps of Northern France accepted into WAC (Wells Art Contemporary) 2016 exhibition.
The image “Cedez Le Passage” shows a section of the UK border fence in Calais.
Thousands of migrants and refugees are trapped in the Jungle, waiting for their chance to find safety in the UK. To stop these would-be stowaways the authorities have erected fences around the port, railways and roads. But they are in reality more symbolic than effectual. Townscapes and the lay of the land demand breaks and provide passive places of passage. Borders are static while the need for safety is urgent and unceasing: Cedez Le Passage.
